Cleanse and Exfoliate

We all know winter can wreak havoc on our skin. As the cold weather zaps moisture and leaves behind dullness, it’s time for a good scrub. Start by cleansing with your usual face wash, if you’re looking for a recommendation you can’t go wrong with CeraVe’s Hydrating Cleanser.

Then, treat your skin to an exfoliating session 1-2 times per week with the Farmacy Honeymoon Glow AHA serum. Gently buffing away dead skin cells allows your products to better absorb.

You can also use a Clarisonic with your favorite gel cleanser to slough off flakes. Be sure to avoid over-exfoliating, listen to your skin, and find what works best for your skin type.

Hydration is key

Once you’ve exfoliated, take a moment to deeply hydrate your skin. In winter’s dry air, our complexions can become parched and lackluster. During this spring skin reset, focus on replenishing lost moisture with products that suit your needs.

For my normal to dry skin, I love layering a hyaluronic acid serum (like The Ordinary’s Hyaluronic Acid) under a rich cream like the Clinique Moisture Surge hydrating gel cream. Give the products time to absorb before moving on to the next step.

Proper hydration will prep your skin to better absorb other nutrients. It will also keep your freshly exfoliated skin soft and smooth. You’ll wake up with plump, glowing skin ready for the warm sunshine! Hydration is truly key to maintaining your skin’s radiance through the changing seasons.

Treat with Masks

Now that we’ve cleaned, exfoliated, and hydrated, it’s time for a pampering skin mask sesh. Think of masks as quick pick-me-ups for your skin. In spring, reach for brightening, anti-aging, and soothing formulations.

Two current faves are this Vitamin C Mask – the citrus scent is so uplifting and the Laneige Water Sleeping Mask. Apply masks 1-2 times per week after toning for an extra nutrient boost.

Lie back, relax, and let the active ingredients work their magic. You can use this time to read, journal, or listen to podcasts. Twenty to thirty minutes later, rinse off and admire your refreshed glow! Masks are a simple way to treat your skin while relaxing your mind – a perfect midweek mini-spa moment.

Protect with Sunscreen

Now that we’ve sloughed, hydrated, and treated our skin, it’s time for the final and most important step – sun protection. Even on cloudy days, UVA and UVB rays can damage our skin. think of sunscreen as your skin’s armor against premature aging.

As you transition into springtime activities outside, don’t forget broad spectrum SPF 30 or higher every single morning, if you’re looking for a recommendation you can’t go wrong with Supergoop’s Unseen Sunscreen SPF 40.

Reapply every 2 hours of sun exposure for optimal protection. Look for mineral or chemical options that work for your lifestyle. You can also keep a tinted mineral sunscreen in your purse for touch-ups throughout the day. Your skin has been through a lot this winter – shield it from further sun damage and allow your renewal efforts to really shine through!

Nourish From Within

While topical products are key, nourishing your skin from the inside out will take your glow-up routine to the next level. Stay hydrated by sipping water throughout the day, (you can use a water bottle like this one to help motivate you to stay hydrated). I also love to sip herbal tea, (this Celestial Seasonings Herbal Tea, Tea Sampler is delicious!) which is soothing and hydrating. Eat a diet rich in collagen-boosting foods like berries, citrus fruits, fatty fish, and green veggies.

Supplements like collagen peptides help support elasticity and can be another way to give your skin an extra boost. Your skin drinks it all in and looks plumper and firmer week by week. Nourishing your body translates to nourished, radiant skin that simply glows!

  • Gua Sha or Jade Rolling: Gently massage your face with these ancient tools to improve circulation and lymphatic drainage for a lifted, contoured look.
  • Sheet Masks: Amp up your masking game with hydrating, brightening, or anti-aging sheet masks. I like to use them 1-2 times per week for that refreshed selfie-ready glow.
  • Exfoliating Scrub: For extra deep exfoliation, try a weekly scrub with natural ingredients like sugar, coffee, or oats. Gently buff away dead skin and smooth bumps.
  • Face Massage: Take your cleansing or serum application ( this vitamin C serum is truly amazing! ) up a notch with light tapping and rolling motions to relax muscles and promote absorption. Feel free to add a few drops of your favorite oil.
  • Eye Cream: Give your eye area special TLC with a hydrating eye cream to combat dark circles and fine lines that can form in winter. Gently pat it on daily.
  • Lip Scrub: Exfoliate your lips 1-2 times a week to remove flakiness and prep for your favorite balm. I like using sugar with a touch of honey or coconut oil.

These steps will help you say goodbye to winter dullness and welcome the rejuvenation that spring brings. Embrace these changes, and you’ll be rewarded with a fresh, revitalized complexion.

Remember, taking care of your skin is an act of self-love. Here’s to a beautiful and vibrant spring!
