So I’m sharing my tried-and-true tips for getting a flawless, streak-free white manicure every single time. Let’s dive into my top 5 tips for preventing those annoying white polish streaks!

Tip #1. Use a Ridge-Filling Base Coat

Getting white polish to go on smoothly starts with proper nail preparation. I always begin with a ridge-filling base coat like the Orly Bonder Rubberized Base Coat. This helps fill in any grooves or ridges so you get an ultra-smooth, even surface for streak-free polish application.

Tip #2. Apply Thin Coats

When it comes to application, thinner is better! Thick, gloopy coats are a one-way ticket to unsightly streaks. Take your time and apply 2-3 very thin coats, allowing each one to dry completely before adding the next. I love using the this Wet n Wild fast dry nail polish which has a nice thin, easy-to-control consistency.

Tip #3. Use a Good Quality Polish

You get what you pay for with nail polish, especially white shades. Cheaper polishes tend to go on streakier and get thick and goopy faster. Splurge on a good quality opaque white like Essie Blanc or OPI Alpine Snow for the best results.

Tip #4. Roll the Bottle Before Use

This is a major key! Always give your white polish bottle a good roll between your palms before applying. This helps re-mix the pigments and ingredients so you get an even, smooth application. Shaking the bottle creates air bubbles that can cause bald spots.

Tip #5. Finish with a Glossy Top Coat

Once you’ve achieved a sleek, opaque white mani, lock it in with a nourishing high-shine top coat. My current fave is this top coat – it dries with a thick, gel-like glossy finish that smooths over any last imperfections.

With these simple tips, you’ll be well on your way to salon-worthy white nails that are completely free of any unsightly streaks or patchiness!
