5 Super Simple Self Care Tips
1. Once (Or Twice) a Week, Take a Long Walk
Walking does a lot for your health and your overall wellbeing. No, you don’t have to walk for hours but you should try to squeeze in at least 30 to 60-minutes of exercise each week and walking is a fairly easy way to do this.
And no you don’t have to have a goal in mind. The purpose is to get outside, clear your head and get a little exercise in the process.
So once a week but daily preferably, put on your most comfortable shoes and go explore your neighbourhood.
2. Put Your Phone on “Do Not Disturb”
If only for one hour a few days each week, spending time without texts, emails and social media vying for your attention is so refreshing and goes a long way towards your self-care.
Instead of screen time relax and read a good book, learn a new hobby or spend some quality time with friends and family.
3. Create A Calming Self-care Routine
Think about the things that calm you and make you happy. Whether it’s taking the time to leisurely put on your makeup in the mornings, enjoying your coffee or finally reading that book (there’s always an unfinished book) and turn them into daily self-care habits.
The repetition will ensure that you start and end your day in the right mindset.
4. Do Something Nice for Someone Else
These don’t have to be grand or complicated gestures. It could be as simple as buying coffee (or a muffin) for a coworker who always has your back, holding the door for someone or smiling as you walk down the street, random acts of kindness are truly satisfying. 🙂
5. Being Positive to others
Being positive in everyday life and on social media is both easy and worthwhile. So if you see a friend’s post and think “She looks stunning in that dress!” or come across a meal and think “That’s the best-looking meal I’ve ever seen,” don’t keep it to yourself.
Share it in the comments and let it out into the world. And yes, the same applies in real life; if a coworker’s haircut makes her look amazing, then you let her know. They’ll feel amazing and you’ll feel great about yourself too. Yes, you did that.
